We've been hearing and reading all these depression forecasts for quite a while now. Even today Merrill downgrades Am.Express and Capital One because the next shoe to drop is credit card implosion.Judging from recent statistics the consumer segment is alive and well, "confidence" a bit down in the mouth but still spending vigorously. Stock market has noticed and has probably bottomed, well above the August lows.
