FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE ESPANA TELEFÓNICA 2010
Provisional Results

The speed, along with the reliability risk of the Red Bull, were fully evident in today's race as Webber drove a
faultless race from pole winning the Spanish Grand Prix, yet team mate Vettel had a full plate, who in spite of his
second best time in qualifying, he struggled all day and was lucky to finish the race at all. Still, he managed a 4th
place, nursing his car home 15 laps from the end, with basically no front brakes left and a faulty front wing elevator.
Biggest loser of the day was Lewis Hamilton who drove a great race, but 2 laps from the end, he suffered a rim
failure that put him into the guard rail. Very unlucky brake for Hamilton, who scores no points. Alonso was the direct
beneficiary of both Vettel's problems and Hamilton's crash, finishing in second and placing him three points away
from the championship leader Button, who managed fifth spot unable to pass a slower Michael Schumacher's Mercedes,
doing a great job finishing 4th. and for the first time this year, besting his team mate Nico Rosberg, who had a miserable
race finishing in 13th (and no points). Rossberg was second in the championship standings before today, now he sits in
5th, 20 points away from leader Button.

Felipe Massa drove an uneventful race to 6th, Adrian Sutil continues to impress finishing 7th with an inferior chassis
besting Robert Kubica in the Renault. Robert has signed an option with Ferrari for next year; it is rumored that Massa's
days are counted with the Maranello team. Kubica and Alonso will be a sight to see next year. Rubens managed to finish
9th, very good performance with an inferior chassis as well. Lastly, in tenth and last point paying position, Jaime Alguersari
in the Toro Rosso-Ferrari, who in spite of a drive-through penalty, manages one point in his home Grand Prix.

Next week, the Grand Prix of Monaco

2010 Formula One World Driver Championship Standings

After 5 races

Button keeps the lead by three points over Alonso, Vettel manages to keep Button within sight of 10 points, and finally Webber
leaps, as it was needed of him to have a chance at the title. Lewis Hamilton's crash in today's race stops him from advancing,
as well as Rossberg no points finish today. Massa manages to stay in the fray. Kubica continues to advance with a far inferior
chassis, then there is a big 20 plus gap to Michael Schumacher's 22 points.

It is early with 14 more GP's to run, but this season is already shaping up as one of the closest contested championships in a
long time. 5 races, 4 winners, Button is the only driver with 2 wins.

Monaco is next.
