I don't know. I'm just asking.

I don't know, either, but it makes no sense to me that leaving high BP untreated is advantageous. Perhaps some BP drugs have side effects or unintended consequences but others, like diuretics, have long histories of safe use. I can't imagine anything a diuretic, for example, could do to you that would be worse in terms of longevity than wracking your blood vessels.

Having said that, I'm close to being off my BP meds and looking forward to ditching them altogether just as soon as I've tested my current minimum dosage (of an ARB)long enough to confirm that I have enough room to spare between my BP and the recommended levels.

If the meds are not a life extender, I'm not sure why anyone would take them.

I don't think anybody knows much about what extends life other than the obvious. There are no studies. There really is no way to do rigorous studies. There isn't even much out there that has been effectively demonstrated to cause or avoid deadly diseases let alone influence longevity. So what we do or don't do is just best guess/take your chances.
