Newbridge Networks Continues to Build and
Strengthen its Executive Leadership Team

New Executive Vice President and General Manager Appointed
for North and South America

HERNDON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 5, 1998-- Newbridge Networks (NYSE:NN - news; TSE:NNC -
news) today announced the appointment of Giulio Gianturco as the Company's Executive Vice President and
General Manager for North and South America (NSA).

Working from the Company's United States headquarters in Herndon, Va., Gianturco will lead the sales, marketing
and customer service operations for Canada, the United States and Latin American markets. This move marks
another milestone for Newbridge as the Company continues its drive to build and strengthen the executive leadership
team. The appointment of Gianturco follows other recent appointments of Brian Jervis as Executive Vice President of
the Switching Products Group and Kay Kienast as Vice President North and South America Marketing.

Gianturco brings a solid record of business achievements and operational successes to this position. He joins
Newbridge Networks from Cabletron Systems where he held the position of President, Worldwide Channels
Development. Formerly Vice President for the Americas and Director of North American Sales and Sales Support
for the Network Products Business Unit at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), Gianturco joined Cabletron as a
result of the acquisition of the business unit earlier in 1998.

Prior to joining DEC, Gianturco spent 12 years at the Global Business Communications Systems Business Unit of
AT&T -- known today as Lucent Technologies -- where he advanced through increasingly more senior management
positions. Gianturco holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree From Emory University in Atlanta and a Doctor of Law
Degree from Emory University School of Law.
