Yes. Historicism is essentially poststructuralist; now we've got the "New Historicism" which is even more so, as it's cross-disciplinary: did Disraeli play the piano? If so, did he play it well? WHAT did he play? With whom did he study? And what effect might that have had on British foreign policy? I exaggerate a little, but not much.

Much of this, though perhaps interesting, is also silly. But the subjectivity of "history" isn't. Sure we know who wrote the Constitution. Kinda. We know who is said to have written the Constitution. And this information is probably reliable. Still, you never know: one day somebody poking about in an archive may succeed in proving that it was really Tom Jefferson's current mistress.

Stranger things have happened. I do archival stuff: trust me. A bigtime surprise only about once every ten years, but when it happens, WOW.
