Tim my point was that that was a lie.

1 - There isn't any good reason to think that it was a lie. People mix up the precise timing of different memories all of the time. Not just stupid people or unusually poor observers, but just about everyone.

2 - There is good reason to think it wasn't a lie, anyone who was so sure that it was false would have little to gain from making such a lie, and would, at least if it was a considered and planed lie, be likely to realize that it would easily be caught.

3 - Even if it was a lie, that doesn't amount to "taking the concept of believing something that isn't true to new heights", which was the topic under discussion, and it also doesn't amount to taking lying to any unusual extent or new heights.
