Because, simply, I believe in channels more than I do old trendlines with only one touch, particularly if the lower channel line, the one that I use to make the top channel line, has multiple touches. Old trendlines with only one touch are, half the time, sucker plays in my experience. Give me a test of a trendline that fails and I'll give it credence. That takes the initial touch, to define it, and the test touch.
