I don't agree on the nationalizing thing, but I do agree that it is pretty messed up. I go back to the idea that we shouldn't have bailed them out. We just reinforced bad behavior. Why would we expect them to do anything differently? There was no downside to it the first time.

I also don't think that derivatives themselves are inherently bad. Used properly then can help to mitigate risk on one side and provide speculative opportunity on the other. But then again, I am certainly no expert in that area.
