Not sure if people know that Plavix, the world's most successful blood thinner drug (with less harmful effects than plain old Asprin) is derived from bat's blood. This is because to enable them to fly at fast speeds, their blood has to be very thin to 'move' along their wide wings.

Narrated to me with lots of mostly irrelevant details, but we have a lot to thank bats for.
