You have obviously never visited some of the great cathedrals of the world. These opulent structures were built by the faithful, kept by the faithful and open to the faithful. Yes I agree that when the salt loses flavor one should spit it out. But why throw the baby out with the bath water? I remember seeing a portrait of a bishop on a spit consumed by fire in a Firenze gallery. Obviously he said something unpopular, deviated from the script. I think you should take the example of St. Francis of Assisi rather than nitpick away at the few who are not really that important for your salvation. Your argument reminds of one I heard about the bible being chained up in the church so it could not be taken home to be read. The fact being there was only one bible every thousand miles that was hand written escaped a modern protestants attention.
