Joan -- I suspect there are almost as many kinds of "provocative signals" as kinds of "rapes".
The active and experienced flirt -- I think this woman is rarely a rape victim. First of all, regardless how she dresses, it's usually pretty clear that she's in charge. She's also very self-aware. She's not to likely to "flirt" with people too dull to understand the game. This person may be drop-dead gorgeous but is not often genuinely sexy. Kind of like a politician that says he really cares about you.
The tease -- she not only wants a guy to want her bad, she finds it amusing to make guys think they can have her. I think most of these women do not get through life without a bad experience.
The date/girlfriend who, perhaps due to drink or drugs, lets things go too far before "sobering up" -- not especially remarkable that both parties don't "sober up" at the same moment. I think this happens really a lot. I think it will continue to happen a lot.
The woman without a clue -- she wants to be attractive and is actually looking for "guidance". I think this woman is raped almost routinely and either doesn't know it or is unable to admit it to herself.
The woman "in heat." There are some women who, at least in some situations, at some times, NEED SOME. Most of the males in the room will know this. I don't offer this as any justification for bad male behavior. There are, of course, a million variations on the theme.
If you've ever paid attention to things like aviation disasters, you know there is rarely a single cause. This makes that possible.....makes that possible......and finally, bad stuff happens.
Provocative signals are never an excuse for rape, but a good case can be made for each one changing the odds.
Forget "too old" Joan. You're as "interesting" as ANY woman on this thread. Don't ever mention your actual age though -- Liz will have you whisked off to the Geezer Gulag!
