Possibly, but the last time I looked it was called the Slightly Moderated Boxing Ring. Obviously we don't punch each other here, but the thread is specifically described in the header as a "free-for-all". That does suggest that the debates here have a fairly unrestrained quality to them.

Please give an example of how you see this occuring.

There seems to be a movement afoot to make ridicule an unacceptable tool of debate, and the definition of ridicule seems a bit encompassing to me. I think that if you see a point made that you think is ridiculous, and if you are prepared to back up that opinion with solid arguments, a certain amount of well-phrased ridicule is a perfectly legitimate device.
