Cheryl - absolutely correct! DEC has been a loser for so many years the fact that Compaq is its new owner means zilch. Has anyone seen the new ads which HP has been running showing its commitment to Unix? How many millions is HP spending now to do some spin control after Sun handed it its head in the server business? At one point the competion was. IBM, vs DEC, vs. Sun, vs. HP, vs. Unisys, vs. DG, vs. Seqent/Tandem/Stratus/Compaq, etc. now the competition is fast becoming Wintel vs. Sun - this is not a bad position to be in! When Pepsi launched its campaign against coke it's goal was not to kill coke - they never could but to kill all the second tier vendors. Sun vs. Wintel is going to be a goldmine for Sun.
