I 'll just talk for my self.

I've been accumulating Cohu since October 2000.Buying on dips with Vix spikes.

I've had some short term gains which I usually apply against my worst purchases around tax time.

At the worst of the market bottom - I was upside down by 33% of my total purchases - right now after this nice Rally I need about 7% and I'll be at breakeven.

My holdings are:

Cohu
KVHI
SBSE
Orcl
JDSU

In all cases I'm within a point or two at max from my average.

I don't ever expect to buy perfect or sell perfect.

I'm a long term positional trader.

I have a fulltime day job with a bad habit of watching the market.gg

If this elusive bottom continues to drag on - I will quite happily continue to accumulate great stocks at good value.

I truly believe stocks go thru four phases:

accumulation
mark up
distribution
selloff - decline

I am most comfortable buying stocks during accumulation.

I hate chasing stocks in the mark up - this is where my biggest losers occur as I'm a lousey daytrader

Distribution I've been able to hit correctly for the last several major cycles.I've left a lot on the table - but took a nice chunk too. When I do I leave a margin balance so I'm not tempted to get back in too soon - which I manage to do anyway - but in a smaller way.

Sell-off - I dream about shorting but seem to have cold feet on holding a short long term - most likely lack of experience and for sure not that mental preference.

I initially learned from the Ted Warren approach and I think very highly of William O'Neill's volume studies of markets and cup and handle breakouts.
