Long time fan of the Lone Ranger epic.

As in Hollywood, the gravity of massive celebrity can become a black hole for value. Take this summer’s blockbusters: A Johnny Depp-bloated budget made The Lone Ranger a total bust for Walt Disney ( DIS)
It was a bust because the writing and directing sucked.

Whatever the movie took in was due to fans of the legend like me attending the first week, and to Depp's entertaining portrayal of Tonto.

The movie was entertaining only because of Depp's performance. I didn't consider the story line in sinc with the long and noble traditions set by the Lone Ranger saga, from the days of Radio and through decades of film.

It really had nothing but some entertaining slap stick humor. The story itself was corn ball and barely resembled the noble tale of the Lone Ranger. It actually was a grave injustice to the legend of the Lone Ranger. My expectations of a great action thriller were disappointed as much as I was discouraged in their portrayal of the main character. I left the theater admitting I was entertained, however, by Depp's characterisation of Tonto. He earned what he was paid. The Movie wasn't worth a nickle if you take Depp out of it.
