I'd like to agree with you, but I really think that the thing is designed for dual PC800 buses, just like the chipset is. The natural thing to match it with DDR would be dual DDR200, or single DDR400. But since DDR400 is still quite some time away, except for point to point, (which is where I believe the memory is going, and then to MCM or similar, and then to on die), Intel couldn't have been thinking of it.

But it is a natural for 2 channel DDR200, and that would likely be a sweet combination.

If VIA starts taking market share at the low end, you can bet that Intel and AMD are going to have a continuing, long term, price war at the high end. This could be ugly for both companies, but I think Intel has the more to lose.
