The value of major changes in how segments of the economy will do business in the future is a new and different way of valuing companies. If one thinks back 100 years ago, had there been a means of investing in the Ford Motor Company when Henry rolled down the street for the first time it would have been similar comparison. Taking a gamble on just how well this new means of transportation would do and would Henry be the guy to make it happen. Had someone invested in many of the other budding mfrs that failed they would have lost their capital. Had they bought into Ford or one of the companies that became General Motors they would have made a fortune in companies which started out losing money but became a way of life in a new and different economy. Same difference with WebMD. A new and different way of doing business in the future with little profit or success at this point.
