Novell has lots of good stuff in the works...see the Novell thread...
it's still a cheap stock. Somebody mentioned the MSFT "theft" from
my favorite small-cap, STAC...that worked out just fine for STAC...all
that nice money from MSFT when they settled the suit allowed STAC to
make some nice all-cash acquisitions. Also, MSFT bought a ton of
preferred stock in STAC, then when it came time to cash it in, MSFT
opted to turn it into STAC common, so that was nice of MSFT. Interesting
articles in this issue of Business Week on Bill Gates' foray into
China and why he is very happy to allow the Chinese to pirate his
software, all the while complaining in public...good read if anyone is
interested in MSFT strategies. The takeover rumors for Novell are
nothing but rumors but you can be sure that plenty of the big guys are
eyeing Novell: that company is an undervalued gem with excellent R&D
labs, lots of good alliances, no debt, $1.3B in cash, wholly-owned very
valuable properties in the Silicon Valley and around the world...if they
do want to go bust, they're going to have to work at it!
