Alberta Stock Exchange Symbol : CCX DRILLING RIG MOBILIZED January 20, 1998 Cubacan Exploration Inc. (Cubacan), is pleased to announce that mobilization commenced Monday, January 19, 1998 of the drilling rig to the Farola North #1 wellsite location in Block 17. The drilling rig is an Oilwell 760E supplied by Oil Drilling Services of Cuba ("ODS") which has recently been certified to North American Standards. The ODS Rig #1 has just recently completed the drilling of 3 wells for a third party Canadian oil company. Shipments of all drilling equipment and consumables have arrived from Canada and are presently on location or en route from Havana. Cubacan expects the rig move to take 10 to 14 days and anticipates a spud date during the first week of February 1998.
