The way he is being treated, however, will discourage businessmen from seeking the office in the future. Why go through all that and have the Dems seek to personally ruin you and your family?

That seems to be true on just about any political level but intensifies the higher one aspires. Most true conservatives seem to eschew holding a political office. The draw has been the direction the country takes with people like Obama or Clinton at the helm. Trump's wild card was his TV show that gave him instant visibility.

Considering the validity of your point, it is amazing that we have as many good ones in the wings. Now the left and media are trying to hold any conservative out of making a living. I had quite a few people who voted left who worked for me over my career. It never would have crossed my mind to employ, promote of give raises based on political affiliation.
