He timed it right, that's all. He timed his downgrades between AMD's cancellation of the analysts meeting and their actual announcement. A perfect window for him re-establish himself as a market mover. After the impressive gains in the tech sector some were looking for an excuse to sell anyway. The sector would have pulled back after AMDs announcement anyway. AMDs cancellation of the meeting prompted the perfect timing for him to do what he always does. Create an illusion of having a greater effect on the market than he does. Some of us see this and dismiss him. Others buy into it and elevate him in their minds.

This is just a tech correction like we've seen so many times before. In the process stocks change from weak hands to stronger hands. In the long run it's probably a good thing.

Wonderful companies run by brilliant people are making incredible technological breakthroughs all the time. This momentum fueled by the internet explosion is creating a wealth of opportunities, specially in the tech sector. There are far, far better sources to look into to take advantage of the opportunities available to an investor. You can do much better than waking up in the morning, wondering what he'll be saying next.
