I put a US Robotics Sportster in my previous PC. The thing worked fine out of the box and never gave me any trouble. I later upgraded to a faster ZOOM modem. I had my hands full getting it to work. An e-mail to ZOOM brought a reply in a day which provided the proper setup strings. The ZOOM then worked, and still does over at a friend's house.

Funny thing though, I had a program from my bank which worked with the USR modem but I could never get to work with the ZOOM. ZOOM and nobody else could help me with it. (Not even the bank)

I now use a built-in modem supplied with my new laptop. I don't know who made it, but it works OK.

Cheers, PW.
