It's said (can't name the source off-hand, but it was reliable - New York Times perhaps) that Africa's population has declined over the past year, and more declining is expected.

Alas, this is not due to a decreasing birth rate, but to an increasing death rate. AIDS.

As an example, approximately 40% of Zimbabwe's population is infected with the virus at this time.
