Howdy Ron - here's my response.
I've been a lurker here for not quite a year, and a very occasional poster, however your request deserves a response. I hope others respond as well as I don't care for the insinuation that GRNO is in the same class as GIFS, et al, as spuriously assigned by Levitt in his testimony or that GRNO stockholders were dupes of internet hype. I started stalking GRNO a little more than a year ago and before I ever learned of this thread. I was not introduced to GRNO by any cold caller from a brokerage or PR firm. I truly don't recall my first discovery of GRNO, however I believe it was a serendipitous typo while searching for another stock that gave me a lead to this company that was developing a process to recycle waste oil to diesel. This sounded interesting as a concept. I followed up, and began to learn more about the process and the company. I visited the web site, downloaded the technical info and bounced it off some chemical engineer friends. I requested and received an investors packet and later the video (the one with Diesel the dog) and read all the available SEC filed documents at the EDGAR web site. My first purchase of GRNO was in the first part of OCT 96. My archives show I requested to become a subscriber of the GRNO Newsletter 1 NOV 96 and I believe that I did so just after learning of this thread and reading all the posts to date (a not so difficult task as there were less than 200 then). Encouraged by what I read vis-…-vis management's willingness to communicate with shareholders, I called GRNO and got answers to questions I had or confirmations of info that was posted here. I have never been on AOL and have no info about how GRNO was discussed there other than an occasional repost from there to this thread. I continued to purchase GRNO stock until the last day of 1996. I'd probably have bought more, but the amount already invested was at my $ limit for this sort stock, there was a lack of extra $ available and soon the increasing share price was making GRNO an overweighed position in my portfolio. However, I did believe (and still do) in the company's future and have not sold any shares.
As I live on the west coast, a site visit hasn't been practical and the shareholder's meeting was at a time when I could not travel. Still, I hope for a Denver or further west location next year.
P's box you may have opened, Ron. But I'd like to say that while I thought I knew something of looking into an investment before I read this thread, you and many other posters here have added immensely to my understanding of what "due diligence" is . I have used this knowledge, and the confidence gained from positive contacts with this company, to research other companies to invest in with excellent results. I've picked some other great "winners", but perhaps more importantly, avoided some real dogs, apparent pump and dumps, and vaporware companies.
Many thanks again. Peace and Justice --- Patrick |
