Jim -
Cheryl is something else. She will probably focus on sun's revenue in the service space. Since they are about two and a half times the cost of Intel-based servers like CPQ and DELL for the same functionality, SUNW share looks a lot better on a revenue basis.

SUNW has done a good job landing "magnet" UE10000 systems but their reliability problems are beginning to take a toll - Gartner just did a study showing that UE10000 and UE6500 systems are showing less than 98% reliability in the field. Highly visible failures like EBAY have also hurt their reputation.

DELL, working with Intel, and CPQ, working with MSFT and partners like C&W, will make additional big inroads into that territory in 2000 via the ASP infrastructure. SUNW's high cost model is likely to hit them hard going forward.
