>>If Mary Meeker can control the revenue figures for internet stocks, surely she can fix a couple technical glitches on the EBAY site...<<

Ebay's 12% rally today was attributed to an "upbeat" analysts meeting which apparently focused on three things.

1. In an attempt to convince the street that they are under control in the back room, they created the absurd position of "President" of Ebay Technologies to supplement the two vice-presidents they just hired in the systems area.

2. They continued to talk about local auctions, an idea that they have been testing for months but which hasn't been executed outside of LA.

3. Selling used cars. This is a joke. New car selling makes perfect sense on the internet, but buying a classic car requires personal touching, hearing and inspection for Bondo.

Well, today we will see if Ebay is a one day wonder. My guess is yes.

2.
