This is why corporations fund all sides of the political debate. No matter who gets elected they're beholden to the corporation. The same thing goes on in modern countries that are controlled by political parties that are called "socialist". For example, Sweden has a close relationship with SAAB, at least until GM bought them, and now Sweden has a close relationship with GM. In the case of the US, Obama got a lot of money and support from Wall Street and in return, kept the "Justice" Department from prosecuting them. And I've heard people say that the car company GM stands for "Government Motors". It is standard socialist policy to ally closely with corporations. And it is standard corporate policy to ally closely with all political parties. Corporations are huge targets for government policy. So it's in their best interests to maintain good relationships with all political parties. That's why they give money to all parties that are in power or even look like they have a chance of of coming to power. The Republicans still favor defense and the Democrats still do well in the big cities. And the Republicans are still in favor of equal rights for all while the Democrats want special rights for their interest groups. Things haven't changed much. What I said was that they were "socialist" as opposed to "capitalist". In economics the Nazis were left wing. As far as social values go (and the military), they were right wing. They're primarily remembered for the evil things they did because of their social values so they're generally considered a right wing party. --------- An example of an indisputable right-wing dictator is Austria's Engelbert Dollfuss. Dollfuss was a member of the Christian Social and Patriotic Front which are conservative political parties. The Christian Social Party was the predecessor to the Austrian People's Party a contemporary conservative party in Austria. When Dollfuss assumed dictatorial powers in 1933 he banned the Austrian Nazi party. The Nazis assassinated him in 1934. en.wikipedia.org His successor was Kurt Schnuschnigg. He was also a member of the right-wing Christian Social Party. The depression kept the economy lousy and the public wanted a change. They saw the Nazis as that change and were ecstatic when they were offered the chance to dump their right-wing dictator for the Nazis (which you can call right wing or left wing, it doesn't matter to me). Schnuschnigg lost his job when the Nazis won a referendum by a huge majority. -- Carl
