COGNICASE INTERNET TECHNOLOGIES (CIT) Announces eMP-Apps,
a new E-Services Product Which Integrates Smart Internet
Content and Wireless Technology
FEBRUARY 11, 2000
MONTREAL, QUEBEC--COGNICASE INTERNET TECHNOLOGIES (CIT), a
business unit of COGNICASE Inc. (NASDAQ: COGI), announced
yesterday the launch of eMP-Apps - which stands for electronic
Multi-Path Applications - the first of several products being
developed by CIT to address the convergence of the Internet,
wireless technology and smart content.

The convergence of the Internet and wireless technologies opens
new opportunities to individuals to remain in touch with the
information world 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Providing Smart
Information on Demand, alerting somebody of an event, enabling a
commercial transaction or reporting the result of personal or
business queries on the Web are some examples of the power of the
eMP-Apps technology.

A live demonstration of the new technology was presented to
COGNICASE shareholders at the Company's annual meeting held
yesterday. In one scenario, a user was automatically notified via
cellular phone when the price of COGNICASE stock reached a
pre-determined level. eMP-Apps can support more significant
rules. For example, based on the level of the stock price, it
could have issued an electronic transaction for a sell order to a
financial transactions portal. It could also purchase airline
tickets for a holiday from a travel Web site. The user can be
notified of these transactions step by step via cell phone or the
operation can be handled automatically by eMP-Apps.

Smart Information on Demand refers to the ability of eMP-Apps to
allow users to easily define personal e-services Rules. The
eMP-Apps will search, evaluate and consolidate Web sites based on
the client's request and domain. In addition, it will monitor
these events or conditions on the Web for subsequent notification
or communication to the client via a channel such as cell phone,
e-mail or any other device supported by eMP-Apps. Smart
Information on Demand is a key competitive differentiator for
eMP-Apps.

eMP-Apps is supported by a personal or business portal called
"Watch4Me7-24", also developed by COGNICASE. This personal or
business portal allows users to register for user-defined
e-services.

"eMP-Apps will provide clients with the smart Internet information
and services they need, when and where they need them, using a
variety of telecommunications channels," stated Normand Theberge,
Chief Operating Officer, COGNICASE INTERNET TECHNOLOGIES (CIT).
