Chuzz, right now, two stocks I own are to be added to the S&P 500, Citrix and Yahoo. Here's an article about how AOL was added to the S&P..last year about this time...
thestreet.com
I am trying to assess (anticipate) the impact the listing will have on CTXS and YAHOO based on how big a percentage of the 500, they will become. How many shares will have to be bought by the indexers and by what deadline?
No one on the Yahoo thread seems to know for sure? Some have said there is a 30 day grace period from the time the stock becomes an S&P 500 stock and the time indexers MUST have it in their portfolios (and in proportion to its weight).
Did CTXS automatically enter the 500 on the day the Mobil/Exxon merger took effect? YHOO goes in at the end of the year?
When will the indexers buy and how much will they have to buy of the floats?
Any thoughts, one and all?
all the best
