The victim is white and the perpetrator(s) black. That seems to fit the narrative that the white man deserved to be beaten. He is descended from slave owners (despite Minnesota fighting for abolition during the Civil War and never being a slave state – Dred Scott anyone?) and the blacks descending from slavery (despite slavery not lawful in Minnesota and that 150 years have elapsed since the end of slavery in the USA). That makes the white man "fair game" it appears. The crowd might have thought that he "deserved it", or that it was "justice" for Trevon, Tawanaa, Rutgers, etc. This is exactly the narrative espoused by Sharpton, Jackson, et
