I think Intel has less competition pressure now than ever. I think that is why they felt they could cut back on the number of annual price cuts. I think they have as much technical competition as they did a couple years ago, but I think they have grown their name and reputation and customer awareness/loyalty significantly. Thus they have reduced the threat from AMD and CYRX. AMD and CYRX may make it (IMO, AMD has a better chance) or get bought out, but their influence will amount to nibbling on the crumbs that Intel's leaves behind.
