If the GOP retains the senate it will be by a single seat. In that case Olympia Snowe will be the one who breaks the ties. She and Susan Collins of Maine. They are two of the three most liberal Republicans, and they can't stand Bush and his neocons. So it will be a moderate GOP senate and the rightwing of the senate will be neutralized. Remember too, Alen Specter says maybe Bush should be impeached for illegal wiretapping. He's what you get if not Joe Biden. Not much difference actually.

In the congress, 50 seats or more are in play now. The GOP has little chance in any blue state of retaining anything. Expect massive wipeouts in NY, Pennsylvania etc.

And in Ohio the GOP are getting clobbered. That is where Rove-Blackwell cheated the most in 2004 and are planning to cheat again, as proven by the article I posted.

But red states are hemmoraging Republican congressmen too. In fact all across the country you can expect seats to change hands, and almost 100% of the changes will be democratic pickups. It is almost impossible now for the GOP to retain the house. Even another 9-11 might not stop it. Foleygate alone cost the GOP at least 5 seats, probably more like 20. In fact Hastert and Boehner themselves will be lucky to get re-elected.
