I bet this is what they are talking about, but it's a vaccine not an antibiotic: biz.yahoo.com "An experimental vaccine intended to protect children against pneumococcal disease has been shown in a pivotal study to be highly effective against two invasive forms of the disease--bacterial meningitis and bloodstream infection (bacteremia). "The three-year, Phase III clinical trial involved more than 38,000 children, at 23 Kaiser Permanente sites throughout Northern California. It was ended ahead of schedule because of very favorable results."
