Hi Kids-

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - One Arab was killed and 19 Americans injured in an attack by unidentified assailants in central Sudan, Egypt's Middle East News Agency said Sunday.

The victims were on a hunting trip in Kordofan state, about 250 miles southwest of Khartoum, the capital, when they were attacked Saturday, the agency said.

The report could not be independently confirmed. It gave no details of the attack or say what could have motivated it.

The agency said the man who was killed was a citizen of the United Arab Emirates, and that the Americans were being treated in a Khartoum hospital.

The U.S. Embassy in Cairo said it had not heard of the incident. The U.S. Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya, which looks after Sudan, was closed for the weekend.

The site of the attack, near the regional hub of El-Obeid city, is north of the southern Sudan region where the government is fighting a rebel insurgency.

The United States government advises its citizens against traveling in Sudan. Washington recently broadened economic sanctions on African nation, accusing its government of human rights violations.
