"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.Philippians 4:6-7"
I will like & save this as well.
For here you have Greek Stoicism showing itself clearly and in terms of a detachment and calm, tranquil state of mind, this also is the essence of teachings of the great Buddha. These teachings were the fastest spreading ideas of their kind the world had ever seen, that spread out along the spice/silk roads east & also in more subtle fashion west.
The phrase 'Peace of God that transcends all understanding', is probably the most important thing to seek & quest after, that's said in the entire Bible & Torah.
Its origins are neither Jewish, Christian or Muslim...though the Muslim Sufis then & today echo constantly. That & gratitude & thanks which is what Buddha does actually for an entire week after becoming enlightened under his tree. He spends an entire week there after giving thanks in humble awe & gratitude.
Buddhism was for the time the fastest growing religion the world had yet seen, the influences like for the Persian Zoroastrians & Greek Philosophy upon the Jews, absolutely immense.
Here is the peace that transcendeth all understanding in a living form, perfect balance & quanimity, equilibrium, the Tree :0)
