RE: Taxing the Celtic Tigers

We should not be surprised that Dublin was selected as a most favorable enviroment for any business venture . the TAX benefits which Ireland now has in place falls under the the definition of " State Aid " to most industry. The EU has threatened to regulate such taxes at the national level and they have threateded to withdraw EU funding if Ireland does not mend it's ways- that is raise taxes.

Many multi-nationals are pooring huge investments into Ireland just for this reason..( lucrative tax packages )

intel.ie

Right now Ireland has a normal corporate tax rate of 38 %, but businesses are taxed as low as 10 %. !

The Fianna Fail Party , now in government, pledged a single low corporate tax rate of 10 % for all business by 2010 but this has become a very contentious issue politically..
As you are aware inaddition to favorable tax benefits the Irish Trade Board recently granted Trinity $ 600,000 and the present plans to modernize and move into larger modern facilities outside Dublin grant Trinity huge tax subsidies.

Postcard from Nebraska.....Corn was 65% harvested until the snow hit......now the snow melt has kept the Combines out of the fields.
Wild Turkey and Pheasant are plentiful.
