This is confusing. The P4 Xeon announced yesterday seems to be just like the P4 cache-wise. It's got 180 extra pins and 2-way SMP capabilities, but seems functionally the same otherwise. There are some Piii Xeons that are just like Piii's, with 256k cache, and some that have more cache; the 256k cache Piii Xeons are pretty much the same price as equivalent Piii's , while the extra-cache versions are much more expensive.

Personally, given the rather marginal performance advantage of the P4-Xeon over the Piii in many things, the thermal management questions with the P4, and the Rambus requirement for P4-Xeon I'm sort of expecting Intel to do a Xeon-Tualatin to maintain its market share. Who knows, though.
