Fabmart launches Net music store

BANGALORE, Sept. 28

FABMART, music's equivalent of amazon.com, opened its store on the Internet on Tuesday. The online store promises a "shopping experience" for music lovers and people who do not have the time to physically go out and shop.

Fabmart Pvt Ltd, a company founded by IT industry professionals, has set up this store as the first of a series of virtual stores in different product categories.

"Right now, people buy on the Internet more for fun. But we want Fabmart to outvalue every other way of buying," said the Managing Director, Mr. V.S. Sudhakar.

Fabmart plans to sidestep the mistake that most online stores make of having a poor back-end delivery system. The company plans to focus on the logistics and has tied up with Blue Dart and FedEx to look after that aspect. It promises to deliver cassettes in 48 to 120 hours, depending on the destination. Some 850 locations have been identified at present, but the aim is to go global soon. The company has an arrangement with a distributor in Bangalore for the supply of CDs and cassettes......
