I hope you're kidding when you say "The shorts have no morals!!". Going short or long doesn't have anything to do with morals. Everything boils down to making money and everyone has their own style and comfort level when they strive to accomplish this task. I also hope you're kidding when you say "Think of it, the whole idea of investing is buying companies that you believe in and riding them higher...NOT TRYING TO MAKE THEM GO BROKE!!", because this is not the whole idea of investing. In fact, it's very far from the definition of investing. Shorts don't make companies go broke anymore than Longs make companies become wealthy. The management of the company itself makes these things happen.

Shorts and Longs are both good people with the same value system but different investment styles. The most successful investors are those that understand going long and short and knows when to take advantage of each situation.

Personally, I go both ways, depending on what the charts tell me. This leaves me in a neutral position that allows me the greatest flexibility when making investment decisions. And I assure you that I am a very moral person, even when I go short.

The shorts have no morals!! Think of it, the whole idea of investing is buying companies that you believe in and riding them higher...NOT TRYING TO MAKE THEM GO BROKE!! (At least from a stock investment perspective.)
