Informal talks held with American consultant James Carville

By Ha'aretz Service

Informal talks are being held with James Carville on Thursday in order to explore the possibility of using the American consultant's services to improve Israel's public relation efforts around the world, Army Radio reported.

Carville, who served as a consultant to former prime minister Ehud Barak and to former U.S. President Bill Clinton, met Thursday morning with Omri Sharon, son of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. He will also meet with deputy Director-General of the Foreign Ministry, Gideon Meir.

Moshe Gaon, who directed Barak's campaign and was involved in bringing Carville to Israel, said that the initiative is not political in nature and that it is being pursued even if the state ultimatey chooses not to use Carville's services.

Meir told Army Radio that Israel's public image in the United States is good, but that the foreign ministry is open to all initiatives to make it better.
