PM, I make an image of my system partition on the C: drive weekly, store the image file on my second internal drive, then install from that image to an active partition on the second HD.

Then I check that the system on the second HD works by booting from it. Takes less than half an hour of MY time.
I get no error messages, but after running the system from the 2nd HD and switching to the original C: drive, Windows says it has detected new hardware and asks to be rebooted [sometimes?]

To make sure I remember which HD I'm running Windows from, I change the wallpaper before making an image, then change it back.
