V-ONE makes network security software. Its products include SmartGate, which controls user access to company networks using intranets or the Internet. SmartGate uses software or smart cards to verify the identity of users in remote locations. The company also offers SmartWall firewall systems, which serve as a filter for potentially harmful files entering the company's network. Other products include secure-payment software (Wallet Technology) and smart-card software designed to work with third-party smart cards and readers (SmartCAT). The US government accounts for about one-third of sales. Founder James Chen owns about a third of the company.
