Larry: I just started a trial subscription to IBD. It comes with a tape that explains the CAN SLIM investment system. This system includes (along with other criteria) waiting for new highs on positive news. The purpose of the system I guess is to isolate the stocks that are ready for a long term run upward - but to bypass those that try and try but never quite make it. This sounds similiar to the stance you seem to be taking. IBD has back tested this system 45 years into the past and they seem to feel it really works. I was impressed with their presentation of this system and if I didn't already own VLNC (still at a profit) I too would wait a bit. In addition, I'm currently studying up on various technical methods for using "volatility" to predict stock behavior. If anyone has experience with this and wants to open a dialog with me that would be great. Unless it relates to Valence we can do it "offline".
