Wall Street hates both S3 and CRUS. Billions of dollars flowing into tech stocks but millions flowing out of these two dogs. Some January effect. The age of the multimedia chip company is dead, dead, dead. Either combine and get bigger, or whither away. Management is stupider than stupid if they don't work a merger. What engineer will keep working at an S3 or CRUS -- they're stock options are worthless year after year, as the stock price stagnates. Why shouldn't they jump to INTC or ROK? You can't buy much in silicon valley with expired stock options. That is why workers stay with a company. They would be dumb not to defect to Intel next door. That will be trend of '97--brain drain from the laggards.
