Price isn't the issue.

The best notebook you can make from an Intel chip uses a Pentium.

Surely you jest. Do you really think that corporate America is going to abandon Toshiba notebooks (i.e. Intel) for a Gateway AMD notebook. My guess....not at any price! Toshiba is the number one selling notebook in the world for good reasons and price is obvsiously not one of those reasons.

A K6 notebook would be a substantially faster machine than a Pentium. Price isn't the issue at all, although the K6 also has a price advantage. If you need the highest performance x86 machine possible, your only choice in the last half of 1997 will be the K6.

The relevant issue for Gateway is whether the high performance market is large enough to pursue. How many notebook users use CPU-intensive apps that would be willing to buy the fastest machine?
