In order to do so, you must engage in a bit of objective fact-finding to see if the ethnic cleansing allegation is justified. If it's not, and I suggest that it's not, then simply saying "Nadine thinks it's wrong" is begging the question.
There is, of course, a level at which you are correct. But we're not at such a level. As anyone who seriously follows this thread knows, a great deal of hyperbole passes through here not just on a daily basis but an hourly basis. And much of that hyperbole is offensive to some group of posters.
I'm not eager to see us get into a content censorship program beyond the very mild form now practiced by FL. But if that's what a lot of folk, including yourself and Nadine now wish to have, then either FL has, to be fair, move more deeply into content censorship or we must develop, collectively, some sort of standards that can be applied, or some other approach must be started.
If that's what you think Nadine is arguing for and if that's what you wish to take place, then I'm on record as being willing, however reluctantly, to join the effort.
As I've said on this thread many, many times, in fact had a particularly wasteful debate with Derek Long, my own convictions are free speech convictions. I favor more speech, not less speech as the best way to deal with offensive speech. |
