Intel will not buy S3, they already have CHPS in their pocket, and have access the best 3D technology through Lockheed, and lastly they own the AGP bus. They can easily set back the graphics market because there is no telling that the first version of the AGP chipsets is going to match the AGP spec. It is the old story of the chicken and egg. Intel does what it feels like, and they can develope their version of AGP compliant graphics chips first, whether the graphics chip complies to the AGP spec is unknown, but I guarantee you it will work with their core chipset. S3 is history.
