Highlights of the News 39 Don Surber
Donald John Trump is still our president.
The media is still our enemy.
ITEM 1: The Atlantic reported, "When the United States green-lit two coronavirus vaccines in December, it was a rare bright spot during this pandemic: Scientists had developed a vaccine for covid 19 far faster than any other vaccine in history. The end finally seemed at hand.
"Since then, many, many things have gone wrong. In mid-December, Pfizer reported that it had millions of doses sitting around in a warehouse, and no instructions on where to send them. Medical teams trained to vaccinate masses of people have been sitting infuriatingly idle. Health departments originally stuck to banking hours instead of vaccinating around the clock. Governors have slowed things down by relying on confusing guidelines about who can get vaccinated when. Unused doses have expired and been thrown away."
Bankers hours?
Banks are open 6 days a week with ATMs everywhere that can be accessed at any time.
Health departments operate on government time. That means they open exactly at 9 and close exactly at 5, Mondays through Fridays with more than a dozen holidays.
Capitalism developed and made the vaccine.
Socialism is distributing it.
ITEM 2: Jim Collins wrote in Forbes, "Twitter Is The Worst Company On Planet Earth. Here’s How To Bet Against The Stock—and Deactivate Your Account."
His column began, "It is rare a that a public company stretches so far into the realm of abhorrent behavior, but Twitter's actions last week revulsed me more than Union Carbide’s Bhopal, Boeing's repeated failures with the 787 Max, the Tylenol scandal, and really any other corporate action I have seen in my lifetime.
"For a social media platform to censor a world leader—while still giving a voice to preachers of hate like Louis Farrakhan, Iran's Ayatollah Khamenei and even O.J. Simpson—isn’t just wrong from a free speech perspective, it's actually terrible business. So, Twitter has shown little to no sequential growth in its user base of late, but it is still valued like its Big Tech growth-y brethren. Twitter is not growing, it is shrinking, if measured versus the growth rate of the global economy, and that reduction will accelerate dramatically now that Twitter has offended every Conservative in America with its action to ban President Trump. Only fools in Congress and Big Tech apologists would think that Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act should apply to Twitter. It is a publisher, not a platform. Full stop."
Apparently Twitter also is a power that Forbes dare not offend. It took the article down online.
But the Internet usually is forever.
ITEM 3: Citizen Free Press reported, "Ron DeSantis for the win! — Florida to divest all state funds from Apple, Amazon, Facebook and Google."
And Twitter.
Someone has been reading liberal rules and applying the rules to them.
ITEM 4: The Daily Caller reported, "Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has reportedly told his Republican colleagues that President Donald Trump committed impeachable offenses and that he is fine with Democrats moving forward with impeachment.
"The New York Times released a report Tuesday, citing anonymous sources, saying that McConnell is pleased Democrats will try to impeach Trump, as it will help separate the Republican party from Trump. Rioters supporting Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol Wednesday, committing acts of vandalism and violence and postponing the Electoral College certification process, forcing members of Congress to evacuate the building.
"Democrats in the House of Representatives introduced at least one article of impeachment against Trump on Monday morning after the pro-Trump mob stormed the U.S. Capitol."
I told readers on Saturday that they will impeach President Trump after the inauguration because they fear his return to power. Impeachment allows them to ban him from holding public office.
As soon-to-be-minority-leader McConnell represents most Republican senators.
Liz Cheney represents most Republicans in the House as member of the leadership. She will vote to impeach.
In divorcing themselves from their own president, they divorce themselves from their voters.
Act accordingly. Primary them all. If that fails, stay home on Election Day.
ITEM 5: John Bolton, a mustache without a man, said, "There has to be a serious conversation in the Republican Party about how to remove the taint of what Trump has done, how to repair the damage."
He said this on MSNBC.
His call to purge the party is further proof that Never Trump in 2016 was all about electing Hillary. They want Republicans to be a do-nothing party that accomplishes little.
Mister Mustache is the opposite of Teddy Roosevelt, by talking loudly and carrying no stick.
ITEM 6: NBC reported, "Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Tuesday accused Iran of actively supporting Al Qaeda, saying the country now serves as a home base for the terror group and provides operatives with travel documents and logistical support.
"Pompeo's allegations go well beyond previous statements by U.S. intelligence officials, other foreign governments and terrorism experts, who have described a complicated and sometimes tense relationship between the Shiite-ruled government in Tehran and the Sunni extremist group that launched the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks."
The media is casting shade on the story.
Given that Iran supports terrorism throughout the world (funded with the $150 billion Obama gave Iran in the dark of night), this makes sense.
ITEM 7: The Canadian Press reported, "A lawyer for PBS resigned Tuesday after being caught describing President Donald Trump as 'close to Hitler' in a right-wing sting operation.
"Michael Beller, a contracts lawyer in PBS' general counsel office, was recorded offering political opinions in what appeared to be a barroom conversation with a woman. It was released Tuesday by Project Veritas, a conservative group known for using undercover methods to reveal supposed liberal bias."
In trying to pick up this woman in a bar, Beller said, "We go for all the Republican voters, and Homeland Security will take their children away."
The kids of Trump supporters would be sent to re-education camps.
He said, "They’re nice. They have Sesame Street characters in the classrooms, and [tchildren] watch PBS all day."
So that is how PBS sees its mission: to indoctrinate children. Is anyone surprised?
ITEM 8: Loren Kaye reported, "Governor’s Budget Proposes Economic Relief, No New Taxes."
What?
Unemployment soared.
Tax revenues tanked.
Ah but, she reported, "The California investment economy thrived. A buoyant stock market and surprisingly strong real estate market created capital gains revenues double the amount forecast in 2020.
"As a consequence, rather than managing a $54 billion deficit, the Governor is proposing a $227 billion balanced budget with no new tax increases and $34 billion in reserves and surpluses, which provides record levels of public school funds, increases spending on higher education without any tuition increases, and expands the social safety net."
Our billionaire overlords are benevolent, aren't they?
ITEM 9: Variety reported, "CNN Airport ... is shutting down, the victim of shifts in consumer behavior that are moving more quickly than a Boeing 737.
"CNN said the operation, which aired a mix of news from CNN and snippets from other WarnerMedia networks in 58 different airports in the U.S., would close as of March 31.
" 'The steep decline in airport traffic because of covid 19, coupled with all of the new ways that people are consuming content on their personal devices, has lessened the need for the CNN Airport Network and we had to make the very difficult decision to end its operation,' the AT&T unit said in a statement."
That is one way to make flying more enjoyable.
ITEM 10: The New York Times reported, "State Senator Arrested on a Charge He Choked His Wife."
It did not mention the accused's political party until Paragraph 7.
Name That Party!
ITEM 11: Twitter tweeted, "Ahead of the Ugandan election, we're hearing reports that Internet service providers are being ordered to block social media and messaging apps.
"We strongly condemn internet shutdowns – they are hugely harmful, violate basic human rights and the principles of the Open Internet.
"Ahead of the Ugandan election, we're hearing reports that Internet service providers are being ordered to block social media and messaging apps."
Wait for it.
Twitter also tweeted, "Earlier this week, in close coordination with our peers, we suspended a number of accounts targeting the election in Uganda.."
Twitter censors have no shame. They pay no price for their abuse of power. Republicans should have reined them in when they had the chance.
ITEM 12: Politico reported, "The Los Angeles Unified school board voted Tuesday to authorize the district to sue California over Gov. Gavin Newsom’s new school reopening plan, escalating tension between the country’s second largest school district and the governor."
Poor governor.
Small businesses are suing to open their businesses because they have no money.
School boards are suing to stay closed because they get paid whether they work or not.
ITEM 13: Deadline reported, "California Accounts For 30% Of All U.S. Covid-19 Deaths On Tuesday As State Tops 30,000 Total Virus Deaths; Only 99,000 Residents Fully Inoculated."
Governor Lockdown is doing such a swell job that more than a million people signed the recall petition already.
ITEM 14: The New York Post reported, "?President-elect Joe Biden’s inaugural committee refunded a $500 donation from former California Sen. Barbara Boxer? after she registered as a foreign agent for a Chinese firm that monitors the detention camps holding Uyghur Muslims, according to a report on Tuesday."
Does this mean he will refund Hunter's bribes too?
ITEM 15: Politico reported, "The Supreme Court on Tuesday night granted the Trump administration’s request to reinstate federal rules requiring people seeking medication abortions to obtain the pills in-person from a medical provider.
"The court’s 6-3 decision along ideological lines halted a lower court ruling that waived the Food and Drug Administration rules to allow abortion pills to be distributed by mail during the Covid-19 pandemic."
Roberts and McConnell's Three Stooges threw conservatives a bone.
ITEM 16: Just the News reported, "Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington, Rep. Brad Schneider of Illinois and Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman of New Jersey have each recently announced that they have tested positive for covid 19.
"Schneider, who noted that he is not feeling symptomatic, said that some Republican lawmakers did not wear masks last week while members of Congress were sheltering together due to the riot at the U.S. Capitol."
Some Republicans did not wear masks but apparently they did not get the virus, while these 3 did.
Maybe the masks are not the answer.
Maybe we should just spray every surface in the country with Lysol.
