Your mentioning your trips here reminds me of a funny story...

I work for a company down in San Diego and back in the 90's early 2000's when the dotcom boom hit our stock went thru the roof, like a gazillion percent or somesuch and I was convinced I'd be able to retire in a few years so I took some time off and went on a road trip looking for a house to buy in Montana. No luck finding anything but on the way back I stopped at a little hole in the wall roadside stand along the Washington/Oregon border, somewhere on the Columbia River I think... - a little mom and pop outfit. They were selling sandwiches and drinks and of course Washington apples... So I grabbed one and took my order to the counter and made some off the cuff remark about living in SoCal and we had some apple orchards around the town where I lived. The woman behind the counter smiles and says, oh, you mean Julian, the apple pie town. About laughed my butt off.

Small world.
