The outlawing of abortion in SD will create a large backlash against the rightwing amongst female voters, especially if Alito is a deciding vote to kill Roe. But I don't think that's going to happen.

Alito may vote to kill Roe, but I don't think Roberts will. Reportedly, he is only for outlawing partial birth abortions, which are disgusting and extremely rare. In fact, I haven't heard of any woman getting one, though a few probably have at some time and place.

As for gays, that issue, along with the smear campaigns against war heros, feels to me like a single-use weapon. It's been surprising that Brokeback Mountain for instance, has been largely accepted as realistic.
